About me
“Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” – Pablo Picasso
Growing up in a modest town in India amidst hills and greenery made me fall in love with nature. From an early age, I dabbled with colors, spending my free time painting or sketching. Creativity dotted my Med School years (Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam) and post-graduation (PGIMER, Chandigarh).
In the midst of establishing my professional career as a doctor (Ministry of Health, Kuwait), art continued. Over the years, I evolved as a visual artist with a zeal to capture bountiful nature fueled by my numerous travels across continents. An outright nature enthusiast, I often depart into abstraction, weaving my thoughts and emotions into bold strokes on the canvas. It is my "expression through colors.”
Emulating impressionists and post-impressionists have further invigorated my latter works. I relish redefining old/ ordinary items into colorful art pieces. "A thing of beauty is a joy forever."
My love for oil paints has been consistent since high school. I feel the paints dance to my whim and fancy. So be it any object or surface, it is oil! I cherish the time I spend lost in the creative process. It is a way to connect with myself.
After working for more than 20 years as a Consultant Pathologist, Dr. Anupama Arora Mallik MD, quit her job to devote her time and energy to her true calling, art.
A self-taught artist, Anupama uses the brush, the palette knife, and her fingers, often combining them, to create vibrant masterpieces. Her palette knife creations, however, stand out with unique textures and realistic depth.
An artist by instinct, she derives her visual information and inspiration from her travels and surroundings. Abstract art unleashes her creativity, as she says - “Colors speak a thousand words.”
The artist accepts commission work creating custom pieces that truly capture a client's vision.
